Is tCapitol Hill in Denver, CO a safe place to live?

I'm moving to denver this summer, and am looking at apartments near the golden triangle in Capitol Hill. I've only lived in small towns, but love the big city. I'm concerned about the high crime rate and would like anyones opinion, about this area; It's pretty much the only place I can afford. Yet I don't want to feel unsafe, I'm a single girl in my 20's, is it a bad idea to move to the area?
