Why do investors remain calm with all this happening?

Because true investors won't make money if they panic. They know there are high points and low points in the investment cycle, and they know when to be in for the long haul (low volatility, strong economy) and when to trade (high volatility, erratic economy). They know how to make money in both a down market and an up market, and they know that other people don't know this.
