Canon DM-MV530i power issue?

Hey all! Essentially, My Canon MD-MV530i camcorder has an issue, most presumably with the power switch/record on: When fully charged, battery in place, it will decide whether it turns on or not, and if it does, it will only turn on in Playback mode, ignoring any tape within the device, only looking for an SD card in order to read from that. Basically, what I'm asking is this: Is there a way I can repair this issue as a DIY, instead of blowing all my money on taking it to a shop, without warranty/receipt (I got it ages ago, second-hand, pristine condition and it USED to work for about half a year)? Your answers will be very much appreciated!
